Eigentlich wollte wir letzten Donnerstag in unserer Monatskonferenz den Abschluss einer weiteren tollen Saison mit viel Spaß und Freude und ganz viel Konfetti feiern und die Saison Revue passieren lassen. Doch leider hat uns nicht nur erneut Corona einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht, nein, heute vor einer Woche ist etwas geschehen, was sich niemand von uns auch in seinen schlimmsten Alpträumen vorstellen hätte können. Es herrscht Krieg. Mitten in Europa. Der russische Präsident Putin hat seine Truppen völkerrechtswidrig in die Ukraine einmarschieren lassen. Noch immer fehlen uns die Worte, um all das wirklich fassen zu können. Krieg mitten in Europa. Das war und ist es noch immer, völlig unvorstellbar für uns alle. Unsere Gedanken sind seit letzter Woche mit all den Kindern, Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen in der Ukraine und ihrem schrecklichen Leid in einem Krieg, der dem Wahnsinn Putins entsprungen ist. Seit Tagen gehen Millionen Menschen auf die Straßen, um ein Zeichen für Frieden und Freiheit in Europa zu setzen. Der Rosenmontag wurde kurzerhand in einen Tag des Friedens umgewandelt. Wir stehen als europäischer Verband – nein wir als Narren, wir als Europäer, wir als Menschen, stehen für Frieden, Offenheit, Vielfalt, Demokratie, Völkerverständigung und ein geeintes Europa. Und damit gegen alles, wofür das Regime Putin steht. Die geeinte Antwort Europas und des Westens auf die Invasion war wichtig. Wir stehen zusammen. Europa ist eins.
Wir freuen uns und befürworten ganz klar, dass die EU angekündigt hat den Antrag auf EU-Beitritt der Ukraine intensiv zu prüfen. Die Ukraine ist im Herzen ein europäisches Land, dass wir gerne im Kreis der EU-Staaten willkommen heißen.
Überall in Europa gibt es unzählige Initiativen, die anpacken und die Ukraine und ihre Bevölkerung mit dem notwendigen unterstützen. Jede Spende, jede Unterstützung hilft.
Wir können es nur noch einmal sagen: Stoppen Sie diese unrechtmäßige Invasion sofort Mr. Putin! Ziehen sich sofort aus der Ukraine zurück! Das ist ein eklatanter Bruch des Völkerrechts und entbehrt jeglicher Vernunft! Die Ukraine ist ein freier und souveräner Staat, eine souveräne Demokratie! Die Zeit lässt sich nicht zurückdrehen und das ist auch gut so! Liebe russische Bevölkerung, steht weiterhin auf! Russland ist nicht nur Putin, dass wissen wir, gerade auch unter Jugendlichen schwindet der Rückhalt! Lasst euch nicht einschüchtern! Und liebe EU, liebe nationale Regierungen, tut alles in eurer Macht stehende, damit dieser Krieg schnellstmöglich endet!

Last Thursday at our monthly conference, we wanted to celebrate the end of another great season with lots of fun and joy and lots of confetti and review the season. But unfortunately, not only did Corona throw a spanner in the works again, no, a week ago today something happened that none of us could have imagined even in our worst nightmares. War is raging. In the middle of Europe. Russian President Putin has invaded Ukraine with troops in violation of international law and every treaty. We still lack the words to really grasp all this. War in the middle of Europe. It was and still is, completely unimaginable for all of us. Our thoughts have been with all the children, young people and adults in Ukraine since last week and their terrible suffering in a war born of Putin’s madness. For days, millions of people have been taking to the streets to send a signal for peace and freedom in Europe. Rosenmontag was turned into a day of peace without further ado. We as a European association – no we as carnival enthusiasts, we as Europeans, we as people – stand for peace, openness, diversity, democracy, international understanding and a united Europe. And thus against everything that the Putin regime stands for. The united response of Europe and the West to the invasion was important. We stand together. Europe is one.
We are pleased and clearly support the EU’s announcement that it will intensively examine Ukraine’s application to join the EU. Ukraine is at heart a European country that we gladly welcome into the circle of EU states.
Everywhere in Europe there are countless initiatives that are getting down to work and providing Ukraine and its people with the necessary support. Every donation, every support helps.
We can only say it again: Stop this illegal invasion immediately Mr. Putin! Withdraw from Ukraine immediately! This is a blatant breach of international law and lacks any reason! Ukraine is a free and sovereign state, a sovereign democracy! Time cannot be turned back and that is a good thing! Dear Russian people, continue to stand up! Russia is not only Putin, we know that, especially among the young people the support is dwindling. Don’t let yourselves be intimidated! And dear EU, dear national governments, do everything in your power to end this war as soon as possible!
